Postgres
One managed Postgres 16 database per project, on its private network, connected to the application for you.
Creating it
On the project's Database tab, or arrah db create my-api. From the next deployment the application receives DATABASE_URL and the PG* variables. There is no connection string to copy and the password is never displayed.
Who can reach it
Only that project's application, background services and scheduled jobs. Nothing is published to the internet, so connecting from your laptop is not possible yet. It is reachable while the application runs, not during its build.
Size
- Memory
- 512 MB, 0.5 cores
- Data
- 1 GB. Over that it becomes read-only until it shrinks; a warning is sent at 80%.
- Backups
- One a day, kept 7 days, and on demand. See Backups and restore.
Migrations
Set a release command in the project's settings, such as alembic upgrade head or npx prisma migrate deploy. It runs once in each new version before it takes traffic; if it fails, the running version keeps serving. Because the old version serves until the switch, write migrations the old code can live with for a moment.
Deleting
Deleting the database, or the project, removes the server, its data and its backups. Asked for with a token, it waits for your approval.
