Your own domain

Serve a project at an address you own. The certificate is issued and renewed for you.

Adding a domain

  1. Add the name

On the project's Domains tab, or arrah domains add my-api www.example.com. The page shows the DNS record to create.
  2. Create the DNS record

For a subdomain such as www.example.com: a CNAME to the project's own address. For a root domain such as example.com: an A record to the server's address, plus the TXT record shown, which proves the domain is yours.
  3. Wait for it to go live

The records are looked for automatically. Once they are found a certificate is obtained and the domain shows Live, usually within a minute or two of DNS updating.

Good to know

  • The project keeps its platform address; the domain is served next to it.
  • Nothing is served, and no certificate is requested, until DNS shows the domain is yours and leads here.
  • If you use Cloudflare, turn its proxy (the orange cloud) off for the record.
  • Up to 10 domains per project. Wildcard names are not supported.
  • If something is off, the page says what it found instead: no record yet, another address, a stray IPv6 record.
